6-year-old Brianna Bodley recently underwent a 10-hour surgery in California in which doctors disconnected half of her brain.

A 6-year-old woman with a uncommon neurological illness not too long ago underwent a 10-hour surgical procedure in California the place half of her mind was disconnected in an effort to assist treatment her.

Brianna Bodley underwent a process known as a hemispherotomy on Sept. 28 to deal with a uncommon illness known as Rasmussen’s encephalitis, based on a GoFundMe web page created by her mom, Crystal Bodley.

The surgical procedure was carried out by Dr. Aaron Robison at Loma Linda College Medical Middle in Loma Linda, California. Robison instructed ABC 7 that “simply disconnecting it [the brain] is sufficient to cease the illness fully and basically, doubtlessly treatment it.”

In accordance with the GoFundMe web page, Brianna was identified with epilepsy in August 2022 after affected by nighttime seizures and being hospitalized for 5 days.
