Man dies after consuming oysters contaminated by Vibrio vulnificus micro organism


Florida health officials say  Vibrio vulnificus bacteria found naturally in warm salty water, such as Indian River Lagoon on Florida's Atlantic coast, shown here, can be deadly.

The consumption of uncooked oysters at a Texas restaurant led to the premature loss of life of a comparatively wholesome man in his 30s.  

The person, contracted a bacterial an infection referred to as Vibrio vulnificus that thrives in heat coastal waters. Bacterial infections like this one are on the rise as water temperature continues to extend in response to local weather change. 

Vibrio vulnificus micro organism may be present in uncooked or undercooked seafood, but additionally naturally happens in saltwater and brackish water. 

You may be contaminated with Vibrio when an open wound comes into contact with uncooked or undercooked seafood, its juices, or its drippings or with saltwater or brackish water, the CDC reported.
